Kirklees Visual Impairment Network is one of three local good courses vying for your votes during the months of May and June, via the Tesco Bags of Help grant scheme. You can support KVIN by shopping at three local Huddersfield Tesco stores and casting your vote with the blue tokens. The stores where you can vote for us are;

Volunteer Week Open Day Wednesday 5th June 2019, 10am – 12pm, at our offices at Brian Jackson House, New North Parade, Huddersfield, HD1 5JP Come along to find out about our volunteering opportunities and meet our friendly team of volunteers. We are especially looking to welcome potential volunteers with Visual Impairments, but everyone is welcome.
AOP Awards 2019 We are pleased to announce we were runners up in the ‘Charity of the Year’ category in the AOP Awards 2019, the optical industries leading awards. To receive this recognition as an outstanding charity is amazing. Thank you to all who voted for us.
We have a range of products and technology which can be helpful for people losing their sight. One to one or group sessions available at the following locations. Come along to see us anytime we are open or contact us for more information with the option to book an appointment.
Huddersfield: Kirklees Visual Impairment Network, LG12, Brian Jackson House, 2 New North Parade, Huddersfield, HD1 5JP. Every Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, 10am until 4pm.
Dewsbury: Dewsbury Town Hall, Wakefield Old Rd, WF12 8DG. Every Thursday, 11am until 2pm.
Other ongoing events
Tandem Trekkers: This project started with volunteers as a KVIN project but is now its own charity. It gives locals with sight loss the opportunity to ride a tandem, led by a sighted volunteer along one of many routes around Kirklees. You can keep updated with Tandem Trekkers events by liking them on Facebook or following thwm on twitter
Ukulele Sessions: Following the success of last years music taster workshops, one of our volunteers has arranged for fortnightly Ukulele lessons open to all. To be held every other Monday, 2pm-4pm, at the Thrive cafe, based in Connect Housing, within Dewsbury town centre. Sessions cost £10 per participant. Anyone interested in taking part should call Martin Eatherley on 07974603699
Dewsbury Parkrun: Running every Saturday, at 9am in Crow nest Park, this 5km event allows you to walk or run your way back to fitness. With prior notice guide runners can be organised to partner sight impaired participants. Potential runners should speak to the run directors either prior to the event or via the Dewsbury Parkrun facebook page.
