What a success the Valli Rally was!

What an amazing day Valli Rally 2019 was! A full day effort walking 7 miles from Meltham to Almondbury in Huddersfield!

The KVIN team of staff, volunteers and servcice users did it! It was quite a challenge to get us all through the uneven ground, mud and many stiles but we had a great time along the way and felt great at the end.

Here is a video which sums up the event really well, showing the great atmosphere we had on the day;

KVIN would like to thank Moin, Rachel and the Valli Opticians staff for such a well organised event!

Thanks to Stew and Chris who lead the walk keeping us safe with a team of stewards. Our fantastic sighted guides working so hard to make sure our VI participants kept safe; Jack, Robin, Rebecca, Robert, Sophie and Colin. Everyone who took part and made it a great experience.

And last but not least, everyone who has supported us through sponsorship donations, without all of you the event wouldn’t be the success it was! Over £6000 has been raised which will be put to good use to keep our services running.

Speaking about the fundraising initiative, managing director at Valli Opticians, Rachel Valli, explained: “KVIN is a very small charity making a real, tangible difference to people with sight loss. It is an extremely proactive organisation, not only providing peer and emotional support to people with sight loss, but training people with sight loss to use modern technology to enhance their wellbeing, and it is a pleasure to organise the Valli Rally to directly fund the charity’s work.”

Chairman of KVIN, David Quarmby, added: “We are so pleased that Valli Opticians has chosen us. It will mean that we can purchase some new equipment, which in turn allows us to loan people our older tablets and phones for them to practise on at home.”
