Since October 2020 KVIN and SKIES rehab team have been working in partnership to deliver a range of additional activities for anyone with a visual impairment in Kirklees.
As a result of this partnership we have been running weekly information sessions and a range of groups which have been enjoyed by over 40 people with visual impairments over the past months.
So far, all these sessions and groups have been run using Zoom virtually, but we are excited to be starting some face to face activities from May!
Our activities so far include;
Talking Book Group
Monthly Quiz Night
The information sessions have included guest speakers from a wide variety of organisations such as local and national sight loss charities, assistive technology companies and other organisations providing useful information.
We’re really pleased to be able to strengthen our partnership with the SKIES team so that we can support people with visual impairments more effectively.
The SKIES team is managed by BID services support adults with sensory loss living in Kirklees. The aim of the service is to provide a range of resources and practical support to enable people with a visual impairment and deafblind people to live as independently as possible in their own homes.
